Homes Tasmania continues to support Tasmanians into new homes as we work to deliver even more housing opportunities across the state.

September 2026 Dashboard

The latest Homes Tasmania Dashboard shows that 66 households secured a housing outcome in September through a new social housing home, an affordable rental property, or support to purchase their own home or land.

As at the end of September 2026, 5 834 households have been supported through housing programs since October 2020, as we continue progress towards our target of 10 000 social and affordable homes by 2032.

And we are continuing to expand our construction pipeline to deliver even more housing opportunities for Tasmanians.

In September, the Kingborough Council approved our proposal for 26 new two-bedroom townhouses in Kingston.

The new homes will provide more secure and affordable housing options for Tasmanians, increasing the supply of social and affordable housing in the Kingston area, and helping people on low to moderate incomes access a safe, secure and suitable place to call home.

The two-storey townhouses have been designed with comfort, safety and accessibility in mind, meeting the Silver level of the Livable Housing Design Guidelines. This means the homes will be suitable for people of different ages and abilities and can be adapted to support changing needs over time.

Also last month, construction began on a new 109-lot subdivision in Brighton, creating more opportunities for Tasmanians to own their own home and increasing the supply of land for future social and affordable housing.

The $11.9 million development will transform the 10.7-hectare site into a mixed-tenure community, offering housing options for people at different stages of life – from first home buyers and growing families to Tasmanians needing secure, affordable rental housing.

Around 85 per cent of the developed lots will be available for private sale, either as vacant land or through house-and-land packages, with around 15 per cent of the lots to be retained for future social and affordable housing developments.
