Security and independence, they’re feelings that come from having you own home and something MyHome customer, Josh, is enjoying four months into owning his own home.

Josh had been renting and more recently living back at home with his folks but with MyHome he was able to build his dream home.
“I’m free to do what I want with my home, have it set out the way that I want. What I really value is the fact it’s ‘mine’, and the independence that comes with having my own place,” Josh said.
“Living at my parents wasn’t a bad thing, but having my own place has definitely improved my mental health.”
A few years ago, Josh had been able to buy land, but with changes in the housing market, building his own home seemed to be moving further from his reach.
“It nearly looked like I would be better off selling the land and buying a small apartment, even though that’s not what I wanted, because I couldn’t afford to build anymore,” Josh said.
“I was in a position where I couldn’t afford to build the home I wanted. I wanted to do it right the first time and not have to think about moving into something bigger later on. MyHome made it possible.”
Josh says that with MyHome he was able to build a home for the future without unnecessary sacrifices of fixtures, fittings and design.
“I’m happy with how the kitchen and living area have turned out as I spent a bit of time planning the kitchen, and it’s brought enjoyment to cooking.”
Since moving in, Josh has been busy focusing on fitting out the interior, making it his space with furniture, rugs and an espresso machine. He also has his thoughts on future landscaping projects, and with entertaining also on his mind, he’s planning to build a deck.
