Finding an affordable private rental home is difficult for many Tasmanians.
Homes Tasmania provides three programs to help make it easier to find and stay in a private rental home.
Private rent assistance can help people on low incomes to cover the cost of paying your rent, paying a bond or moving costs in the private rental market.
Private rental incentives helps by making more homes available and affordable to eligible people on low incomes.
Family violence rapid rehousing helps by making safe homes available and affordable to people escaping family violence.
You can apply for these three programs through Housing Connect.
Ancillary dwellings
The Department of State Growth is now accepting applications for the Ancillary Dwelling Grants Program.
The $5 million program is a Tasmanian Government initiative to help boost housing supply, support home ownership and put downward pressure on rents.
Grants of $10 000 are available to the first 500 eligible applicants that submit a complete application.
To be eligible for funding, applicants must construct a new ancillary dwelling and make it available for long-term rent for at least two years.
