The October Dashboard shows how Homes Tasmania is continuing to deliver more housing opportunities for Tasmanians.

New unit at View St, Geeveston

As at October 2025, a total of 4 484 homes have been completed towards our commitment of 10 000 social and affordable homes by 2032. This includes 2 170 units of social housing and supported accommodation, 993 affordable rentals, 1 093 affordable home purchases, 109 affordable lots of land and 119 units of crisis accommodation.

New homes completed during October include 17 new units in Geeveston for Tasmanians from the Housing Register (pictured above). Homes Tasmania provided funding of $2.3 million for the development under the Community Housing Growth Program.

The 16 one-bedroom and one three-bedroom homes were built for Homes Tasmania by St Joseph Affordable Homes and are managed by Loreto Community Housing.

And more new homes are on the way, with our 18-unit development in Atkins Drive, Romaine, receiving council approval in October.

The two-storey, two-bedroom units are designed for comfort, safety and accessibility. The development will include a mix of affordable rentals, with rents below the market rate, and social homes for families on the Housing Register.

Homes Tasmania is committed to delivering more medium-density housing in well-located locations like Atkins Drive. About 28 per cent of Housing Register applicants have the North-West region as their first choice and this development will help address the pressing need for housing in the community.

A builder for the development will be sourced through our builders panels.

Also in October, three Homes Tasmania-funded housing projects were recognised at the HIA Tasmanian Housing Awards. Read more about the awards at www.homestasmania.com.au/hia-awards2025

Homes Tasmania’s pipeline of works includes 5 578 homes that are in all stages of delivery, from project planning and seeking pre-approvals, through to preparing land and active construction. This ensures we can continue to deliver more new homes and more housing opportunities for Tasmanians.
