Homes Tasmania continues to progress a pipeline of mixed-tenure residential developments, expanding housing opportunities for Tasmanians.
The February Dashboard reports that 4 722 households have achieved a housing outcome since October 2020, contributing to the Tasmanian Government’s commitment of 10 000 social and affordable homes by 2032.
During the month, Launceston City Council approved Homes Tasmania’s development application for the 10.46 hectare site at Techno Park Drive, Kings Meadows. The development will deliver approximately 104 residential lots, with a range of lot sizes supporting diverse housing outcomes, including strata developments, townhouses and detached homes suited to different household needs.
Around 85 per cent of lots will be released for sale, including through the MyHome shared equity program.
We are also progressing new social and affordable housing supply. Recently, a development application was lodged with Kingborough Council for a 26-unit project to support Tasmanians on low to moderate incomes. The development has been designed with a focus on comfort, safety and accessibility, and will meet the silver level of the Livable Housing Design Guidelines, supporting use across different life stages.
To support future delivery, early engagement has commenced with builder panels to inform Tasmania’s submission to Round 3 of the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF). This approach is intended to ensure proposals are well-developed, investment ready, and able to progress efficiently to construction once funding is confirmed.
The proposed HAFF Round 3 submission seeks to deliver a minimum of 582 social and affordable homes across the state, building on the 618 homes already secured through earlier funding rounds.
