This 18-unit apartment complex (pictured above) was built for Loreto Community Housing. It was built on Homes Tasmania land with a funding contribution of $3.9 million from Homes Tasmania.

The development, completed in October 2024, comprises 12 one-bedroom units and six, two-bedroom units. It is home to priority applicants from the Housing Register, with three units specifically allocated to young people.

The units were designed by Preston Lane Architects, who also received a commendation at the 2025 Tasmania Architecture Awards for this development.

All 18 units count towards our commitment of 10 000 social and affordable homes by 2032.

Completed in June 2025, the one- and two-bedroom units were designed with flexibility and energy efficiency in mind and are home to priority applicants from the Housing Register.

All seven units count towards our 10 000 homes commitment.

Homes Tasmania and its predecessors have proudly supported the HIA for the past 17 years, reflecting our shared commitment to improving outcomes for Tasmanians by increasing housing supply.

Over the past four years, homes with funding from Homes Tasmania have averaged nearly 18 per cent of the residential construction market in Tasmania, highlighting the significance of Homes Tasmania’s pipeline of works to the industry and the delivery of new housing supply.

Homes Tasmania employs a range of strategies to respond to Tasmanians’ diverse housing needs, including progressing residential developments, releasing land for home ownership opportunities, and providing incentives to property owners to increase the availability of affordable rental homes.

Our strategy will continue to include a pipeline of works that delivers certainty to the building industry and reflects our ongoing efforts to plan, approve, contract and build dwellings and get more Tasmanians into homes.

To further accelerate the delivery of our social and affordable housing developments, we have established two builders’ panels to help deliver our pipeline of works.

The panels let members quote simply and quickly for our residential construction projects, helping cut the time it takes to get new homes underway so we can get more Tasmanians into a home faster.

Industry feedback about these panels has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are pleased to see strong engagement with the projects delivered in partnership with our community housing providers.
