Tasmanians seeking housing assistance now have better and more convenient access to housing assistance following the launch of the Housing Connect Portal.
The Portal makes it easier to find information, explore housing options and apply for assistance, giving people greater flexibility in how, when and where they seek help, and reducing the need to visit a Housing Connect office or call during business hours.
Through the Portal, people can find information about housing assistance options, check their eligibility and submit applications online. Existing Housing Connect service users can also manage their personal information and update details about changes in their circumstances.
The online service provides a convenient option for people who are comfortable managing their housing assistance needs independently, helping them navigate available options and take the next steps towards finding suitable housing.
The Portal complements existing Housing Connect services rather than replacing them. People who need face-to-face assistance or more intensive support can continue to access Housing Connect offices and support services, as well as the existing 1800 800 588 phone service.
By providing an additional way to access information and apply for assistance, the Portal offers greater choice and convenience for people seeking housing support, while allowing people to engage with Housing Connect in the way that best suits their needs.
Housing Connect provides support for people experiencing housing stress or homelessness, from crisis accommodation through to longer-term housing. Its personalised assistance helps people connect with appropriate community supports and resources, with support tailored to different circumstances and stages of life.
The Housing Connect Portal is available at www.housingconnecttas.com.au.
