Homes Tasmania’s role is to increase the supply and affordability of homes and we are committed to delivering more mixed-tenure developments.
Homes Tasmania owns 10 and 10A Binalong Road, Mornington. Rezoning of the land at 10 Binalong Road to General Residential was approved under the Housing Land Supply Act 2018 in late 2025.
What is planned for the site?
The site can accommodate 47 new units, providing further social and affordable rental housing in an area of high demand. The planned development also includes the refurbishment of the 12 existing homes.

Homes Tasmania consulted with the local community on a draft concept plan for the site that will be submitted for planning approval to Council.
Community sessions were held at 10 Binalong Road on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, and Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
Written feedback was also invited via this online form.
