Homes Tasmania’s role is to increase the supply and affordability of homes and we are committed to delivering more mixed-tenure developments.
Homes Tasmania owns 10 and 10A Binalong Road, Mornington. Rezoning of the land at 10 Binalong Road to General Residential was approved under the Housing Land Supply Act 2018 in late 2025.
What is planned for the site?
The site can accommodate 47 new units and the refurbishment of the 12 existing homes. This would provide further social and affordable rental housing in an area of high demand.

Have your say
Homes Tasmania will consult with the local community on a draft concept plan for the site before making a submission for planning approval to Council.
Community sessions will be held at 10 Binalong Road, Mornington (in the former Meals on Wheels building), on:
Tuesday, 17 February 2026, 5 – 7 pm AND
Wednesday, 18 February 2026, 10 am – 12 noon
