A new subdivision planned for Mornington will deliver around ten lots, subject to Council approval.

Homes Tasmania is committed to increasing social and affordable housing and releasing land for residential development.

The majority of the new lots of land will initially be made available for affordable home purchase under the MyHome shared equity program.

MyHome helps eligible Tasmanians buy their own homes by reducing the upfront costs and the ongoing mortgage repayments.

These subdivisions are contributing to commitments under the Affordable Housing Strategy 2015-2025 to release a total of 670 lots of land.

The proposed subdivision is on surplus land at the rear of the Warrane Primary School and adjacent to Carbeen Street, Mornington. Access to the new subdivision will be via a new road constructed through 10 Carbeen Street.

The 1.06 ha site has capacity for around 10 lots.

The land was transferred from the Department for Education, Children and Young People to Homes Tasmania in 2022 under a Housing Land Supply Order.
